When an illness or injury afflicts us it can feel like the greatest betrayal. The most profound and unquestioning trust we have in this world, with our own body is broken. At once we are both prisoners and guests in our own skin. We have feelings that range from anger and grief to despair. Controlling these feelings isn’t always possible, and sometimes we need to cry, scream and threaten to give up. But in those moments when we can harness them we have to opportunity to create a strength we did not know existed.
